Summer Skin - Be Safe in the Sun

Now that Summer is here, skincare and hay fever have become real issues  for many people. Avoiding sun damage by using hats, sun protection cream with 15+ UV protection, and sunglasses are essential, as is keeping in the shade between 11 and 3pm when the sun is at its strongest   “Skin cancer is preventable in as many as four out of five cases and can be cured if diagnosed and treated early” says Rebecca Freeman from the British Association of Dermatologists.

Advice from Cancer Research UK backs this up, and also advocates never using a sunbed. People most at risk are those with fair skins, lots of moles or freckles or a family history of skin cancer. Cancer Research UK’s SunSmart website has lots of information about protecting you and your children in the UK and abroad. For more information visit their website here.

America actually have a sun safety week, June 6- 12th this year, to highlight the dangers of the sun. You can read more about their advice here.
